CrossFit is a precise combination of exercise and nutrition that has been proven to increase fitness and health for people of all ages and abilities. CrossFit is founded on the first scientifically rigorous definition of fitness: The programme produces observable results that can be measured and replicated.
At CFSO, there are no joining fees. Memberships run on a month by month basis with a 30 day notice period – we want to you come and train, enjoy your membership and get results. We don’t tie you into contracts. We believe what we offer is so much more than any conventional gym that our actions and training methods will keep you coming back. Sessions are run in groups, capped at 10 or 16 people dependent on the type of class. There is a set warm up followed by a set workout. All movements are explained, demonstrated and time allocated for learning the correct techniques. The group performs the workout together, creating a tremendous feeling of camaraderie and community. Workouts are also universally scalable, meaning people of any age, any fitness level and any ability will all be working out alongside each other while being challenged on their level. As a member you get a great sense of achievement from completing a challenging workout and you’ll make friends along the way.
If you’ve heard people talk about CrossFit, you’ll have heard the term ‘WOD’. The WOD is the Workout Of the Day, and is used to describe the specific movement and exercises each CrossFit class will be doing. The WOD consists of constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity. These workouts usually last 10-20 minutes, but can be as short as 5 minutes or even over 30 minutes. You never know what you’re going to get!
Most mainstream gyms and health clubs will programme clients a standard workout comprising isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions, promoting the benefits of cardio. At CFSO, we do things differently. Which is why we get results. CrossFit uses compound, functional movements and short, high intensity sessions, interspersed with longer duration efforts. These movements and intensity levels have been scientifically proven to be noticeably more effective than standard steady-state cardio routines at achieving desired fitness and body composition results.
The beauty of CrossFit is that it can be scaled to meet the abilities of anyone, allowing them to still work at an intensity relative to them. The workouts are tough, but can be adjusted to suit all fitness and ability levels, from elite athletes to retirees. We scale workouts, we don’t change them. Whoever you are, whatever you do, you are capable of CrossFit. CrossFit training is unparalleled in its effectiveness but is always to be approached progressively. The key ingredient to success here is real commitment. We won’t push you to do anything you don’t want to do but we will show you how you can achieve what you never thought possible!

This is one of the most common questions we receive, and rightfully so. People often worry that CrossFit will make them bulky, especially women. The reality is that CrossFit focuses on functional movements and high-intensity workouts that promote fat loss and lean muscle and strength gain. The chances of becoming overly muscular like a professional bodybuilder are zero to slim unless you specifically train AND eat for that outcome. By regularly engaging in CrossFit, you’ll see improvements in your performance and physical appearance, becoming lean, fitter and stronger rather than simply bulky. It’s important to note that weight management is a crucial part of the CrossFit journey and that proper nutrition accounts for 80% of your health and aesthetic results. Combined with good nutrition, CrossFit allows you to achieve a strong, lean and healthy physique. We encourage members to join our nutrition coaching plan to complement their workouts and reach their goals.
YES! We encourage it and know how important it is to keep up your own training as an athlete while still living the reality of being a parent. For their safety, we ask that children remain in the waiting area and stay off the floor during class. Have a look at our Kids and Teens classes to get your young one involved in CrossFit too!
Group class plans start £99 for 8 classes/month. We also have membership plans for 12, 16 and unlimited classes. You definitely do not need to be fit to start CrossFit. Less than 10% of our new members have tried CrossFit before and our classes always have a variety of ages, shapes, sizes, and experience levels. Most importantly, we always start newcomers with our OnRamp programme that teaches you the fundamentals of CrossFit in a safe and non-intimidating way. So don’t worry about your current level of fitness, age or weight it’s about where you’re going, not where you are today.
